Broadoaks presides over some of the finest walking country in England, so naturally, its owners wanted to offer the warmest welcome to everyone drawn to the Lake District National Park to stretch their legs – two and four-legged.
What this beautiful gem of a boutique country house hotel has managed to create is uber-luxury for people where well-behaved guests’ dogs are welcome too. With a complete disregard for the ‘stuffiness’ that can prompt some luxury hotels to adopt a no-dogs policy, Broadoaks’ style is to do it differently. It recognises that dogs are guests too and that, if their owners are coming to one of the UK’s walking capitals, they’re going to want to bring their best friend. Consequently, their needs have been treated with the same level of thought and consideration as their owners’.
Broadoaks’ three beautiful Garden Suites and its main “Boudoir” suite set in its six acres of grounds are paws-friendly. The hotel is serious about the attention to detail it extends to its smallest visitors, right down to a welcome treat or two on arrival from Flo, the house Cavapoo. We only have 4 dog-friendly rooms at the hotel in the below categories:
The Garden Suites
All dogs are charged at £25 per night on a DDBB (Doggie Dinner Bed and Breakfast) rate.
THE BROADOAKS DOGGY
Meet Flo The Cavapoo
My name is Flo and I am the Broadoaks doggie! I would like to welcome you to “my” lovely hotel – Broadoaks Country House which offers dog friendly accommodation. It took a lot of convincing to allow me to invite my friends to Broadoaks, so you will really need to be on your best behaviour or I will get into trouble.
Lots of people ask about my breed, my daddy was a Mini Tri-part Poodle and my mummy was a lovely Ruby King Charles Spaniel. My wavy black hair never comes out (unless I get stuck on those damn sheep fences!). Most people think my mummy has given me a “scouse” perm… how rude!
I don’t live at the hotel at the moment as my parents live down South, but I do come up to the hotel and stay once a month just to check things out, especially the food. Check out my 4 Paws Menu. Yum!
I look forward to meeting you soon, Flo xx

FLO’s BASIC HOUSE RULES
I begged my family to allow me to invite my friends to Broadoaks, so please be on your best behaviour or I will be invited to the next management meeting and be made to sit on the naughty chair! Even worse you might not be allowed to visit anymore.
Collars, leads and tiaras MUST be worn when in the main house and grounds.
NO jumping on the beds or furniture with dirty paws.
NO howling, barking in the house or in your room, or you will be asked to go and sit in your car.
We are NOT allowed to join the grownups in the Oaks Restaurant or Orangery.
We are ALLOWED in all other public rooms including the Music Room and the Bar.
While some sensible house rules are there to make everyone’s stay enjoyable, guests bringing their dogs to the beautiful Troutbeck hotel will find plenty of spaces to share a relaxing drink in the company of their pets. Please follow our etiquette for the perfect pooch by reading our full doggy and adult terms and conditions prior to booking.
NEW DOG FACILITIES
We have a ‘lead-free’ field for that all important first leg-stretch after your journey to Broadoaks, or after breakfast. Take a right when you exit the hotel and walk up Bridge Lane about 200 metres, along the road you will find a gate with a sign on it. Your owners can even take their car if it is raining and park it inside the gate on the hard standing.
If the weather is nice why not take your meals with you and have a picnic, we have provided tables and chairs for the humans.
